Manchester City’s Yan Couto has been on loan at Girona for the last two seasons.

The right-back impressed for the La Liga side during the last campaign, scoring two goals and making 10 assists from 39 games.

In the summer window, Manchester City let the 22-year-old join Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal with an obligation to buy if certain sporting conditions are met.

The Brazilian has clocked up 331 minutes from seven games for BVB. Bild state he’s yet to impress for the Bundesliga side, even though there are ‘bright spots’ when attacking.

At the weekend, Dortmund suffered a 2-1 loss against Union Berlin. The outlet say the German club’s summer signings have hardly delivered and that that they have a ‘problem child’ in Couto.

BVB manager Nuri Şahin has used only as a right-back this season. However, his displays haven’t been convincing, especially when defending. He’s criticised for giving away the ball often, allowing opposition to ‘create dangerous opportunities’.

Şahin’s side have a conditional obligation to make Couto’s stay permanent for €25m next summer. Bild say the Manchester City owned player needs to ‘improve significantly’, to be an ‘added value’ for Dortmund.
