Chelsea star Jorginho has entered the final year of his contract and there is no clarity over his future at Stamford Bridge beyond this season.
The 30-year-old’s contract situation has not impacted his playing time. He made his 12th appearance of this campaign in the Blues’ 2-0 win over AC Milan on Tuesday and also got his name on the score-sheet.
TuttoMercatoWeb have spoken to the midfielder’s agent, Joao Santos, and he stressed the result against Milan shows that Chelsea are “doing well”.
When asked whether the Brazil-born Italy international will extend his contract with the Premier League side, the representative said: “We are due in June. We prioritise Chelsea and we are moving towards it. Another priority for Jorginho is to do well with the national team.”
Earlier this week, TMW reported Jorginho’s agent has been ‘spotted in Barcelona’. This led to a suggestion that Graham Potter’s man could be offered to the La Liga side. The same outlet now pressed Santos about his recent trip to Spain.
“I went to pray (he smiles, ed). I work in football, I have been to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia but also in other places such as Valencia and Lyon. I work…” he explained.
TMW further quizzed the agent whether he had any talks with the Catalan club about the Chelsea player. Responding to that, Santos said: “I’m Jorginho’s agent, I may have talked about him but also about others…”
