Manchester United will need to focus on strengthening their attacking division in the summer.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani are currently the two strikers in the squad, but the Uruguayan is likely to leave, when his contract at Old Trafford expires in June.
Cavani’s exit alone will force the Manchester club to bring in a replacement and one of the names on their agenda is Victor Osimhen, according to Friday’s edition of Tuttosport.
The Nigeria international has starred for the Serie A side this season, managing 15 goals and registering four assists in 25 league matches.
Luciano Spalletti’s side will be looking to bring in a partner for the 23-year-old, but his future could be a hot topic of discussion in the summer. That’s because he is ‘followed with ravenous attention’ from the Premier League, ‘primarily Manchester United’.
That’s a surprise, given Newcastle United are the club who have been linked most.
The report adds Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is aware that if the Red Devils were to ‘propose the classic indispensable proposal’ of ‘no less than €100m’, then he can’t keep Osimhen.
Meanwhile, Italian intermediary Andrea D’Amico, who worked on bringing Osimhen to Napoli from Lille, has admitted the player could leave his current employer in the summer.
“Are Napoli in danger of receiving important offers for Osimhen in July? Yes. In the market, however, you can never foresee anything,” D’Amico told Radio Marte.
“The clubs think about today, they look after current events and everything will depend on how this league ends: a hard-fought championship, beautiful and different from the previous ones.
“The sporting goal is preparatory to the financial one, investments and sales will be made in view of the future but after having taken note of the results at the end of the season.”
