Towards the end of the January window, Leicester City made a strong push to sign a defender to bolster their backline, and their top target was Anderlecht’s Kara Mbodj.
Multiple offers arrived for the Senegalese centre-back, but the Belgian side stood firm, as they felt they would be better off keeping a strong team for the second half of the season.
The player was reported as being slightly displeased with the situation, but eventually signed a new contract with the club, probably in an agreement that a transfer request in the summer would be accepted.
And it seems that is exactly what has happened, as DH report on Friday that Anderlecht have fixed a price with the player for which he can be sold once the season comes to an end.
With the Jupiler Pro League playoffs now underway, good performances from the centre-back would only help his cause and his club’s for a summer transfer, which Anderlecht’s director of football explained to the Belgian newspaper.
Herman Van Holsbeeck said: “They know that these games are extremely important for them (the players). We decided the amount received in winter wouldn’t be enough to sell. We’ve now clarified things for the end of the season.”
With all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League, the 27-year-old has been key to Anderlecht’s season, scoring three goals and picking up four assists in 26 appearances in all competitions this season.
