Matteo Darmian’s future at Manchester United has been questioned in the past few days, given that Jose Mourinho continues to overlook him for his first team plans.
Reports in Italy suggest the 26-year-old could be on his way back to Serie A, with Inter keen on signing him. However, according to an exclusive on Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, Juventus are also very interested in signing Darmian and that the ‘pressure has increased’.
Swiss right back Stephan Lichtsteiner is expected to leave Juventus, and the Serie A champions want to replace him with Darmian in the January transfer window.
Inter are also interested in signing Darmian, but Lichtsteiner is reportedly their first choice. A bit of a tangled web.
TMW say the future of Darmian and Lichtsteiner hangs between Juventus and Inter, but it remains to be seen if Manchester United will part ways with the Italian international in January.
Mourinho would ideally want to sign a replacement before letting the 26-year-old leave the club, and it will almost certainly be the Manchester United manager who has the final say.
