For those in charge of football transfers it’s a confusing time. There’s no certainty when the game will resume, and there’s no opportunity to scout players ahead of the next transfer market.
That’s not to say everything has stopped, it certainly hasn’t, and work continues behind the scenes to make plans for sales and purchases, with Watford part of the focus for Andrea Carnevale.
Described as the ‘current head of Udinese scouting’, Carnevale has been speaking to Italian radio, and his words have been picked up by Tutto Napoli. It’s got nothing to do with the Campania club, but he used to play for them, and they also asked about his opinions of the Covid-19 situation.
Carnevale is perplexed there hasn’t been a quicker response to dealing with the issue, and is quoted as saying: “It’s a virus that has stolen the whole world, I can’t understand.
“Where were the greats of the earth? There is a bit of anger, I think it is surprising that in 2020 it was not possible to find a countermeasure immediately. Let’s hold on! I continue to work from home.”
And that work from home at least partly involves planning for Watford’s upcoming transfers, which, naturally due to the Pozzo family, are entwined with Udinese: “An hour ago the president called me, we are preparing the market lists for both Udinese and Watford. We are ready for the outgoing and incoming markets.”
