La Provence report on Monday morning that Florian Thauvin still isn’t officially a Marseille player, again, despite appearing for the club on Sunday in a friendly against Palermo.
Thauvin made his third debut for Marseille at the weekend, but after the match, La Provence explained he refused to speak to the media, and they reckon there’s a very good reason for that cold shoulder.
Whilst everything is agreed for Thauvin’s move from Newcastle United to Marseille, on a loan with an automatic purchase clause, the club haven’t yet officially had the big presentation, so are trying to keep things on the low… yes, despite him actually wearing the kit and playing.
Thauvin’s return should be met with some genuine affection in Marseille. A player with erratic form, who does have talent, his last return wasn’t exactly welcomed with universal open arms. This time it may be different, given the player’s very clear will to wear the shirt.
