Sunday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport talked up Mousa Dembele potentially moving to Napoli this summer.

There were claims of talks being held in a restaurant between Kia Joorabchian and other agents, and getting the Tottenham player to Napoli was the main topic of conversation.

Monday’s edition of the same Italian newspaper also details Napoli interest, but believes they could be looking at competition from Inter Milan. Looking ahead to the Champions League, although they’ll have to go through a qualifying round, Inter need to strengthen their squad.

Dembele has been identified as a ‘dream’ transfer from Tottenham, but there’s no illusion it would be easy and Gazzetta say negotiations would be ‘uphill’ for Inter. Despite that, the Belgian midfielder is the ‘precise name in mind’.

Inter are surely going to have money problems with any Dembele effort. The club publicly revealed last week that they can’t yet afford the clauses to sign either Rafinha or Joao Cancelo permanently, and they’ve got several transfer issues pending.

Given all of that, this looks so ‘uphill’ for Inter that it could be vertical, especially when Napoli are brought in.
