Newcastle United aren’t having a great start to the season, and find themselves outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

Steve Bruce’s side have matches ahead against some of their potential relegation rivals, and if that period goes poorly for Newcastle there’s a chance Bruce could be shown the door.

That’s been speculation coming from England, and Calciomercato have picked it up and pushed a candidate forward. They state Bruce’s exit is ‘around the corner’, clearly not having a great deal of faith in his ability to turn the situation into something more positive.

Therefore, it’s put Gennaro Gattuso on ‘pre-alert’, with the manager without a job since leaving his role at Napoli at the end of last season. He did agree a deal to manage Fiorentina, however, that collapsed after just a couple of weeks, with claims between the parties involved of all kinds of agent issues.

Following that, came reports of the Tottenham job being offered, and that soon slipped away after a fan backlash. Newcastle would surely be a tempting proposition for the Italian, and it would be no surprise if agents are already at work in the background.
