Earlier today, we covered a claim in Italy that Napoli were looking at signing Mahmoud Dahoud on a free from Borussia Dortmund, which could cost Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombélé a permanent move to the south of Italy.
The Spurs loanee has been used as a rotational option by Luciano Spalletti for most of this season, and while a Premier League club wouldn’t mind paying €30m to have that kind of player in their squad, Serie A sides will not.
They simply don’t have the same financial power as the likes of Tottenham, which is why spending such an amount would require him to be a regular starter at the very least.
Thus, there are question marks about his future, and while there is a chance he could return to Spurs and cause the likes of Antonio Conte an unwanted summer headache, Napoli could also try and negotiate a smaller fee.
That’s what Il Mattino hint at on Monday, explaining that ’it’s clear he has potential’, but Spalletti expected him to adapt a bit quicker to Italian football.
They add that if they were to place a bet today, ‘Napoli will let him return’ to Tottenham because it would take €30m to make the move permanent.
If they do want to keep him, however, the price ‘must be rediscussed’.
