Watford’s sister club, Udinese, is today the subject of multiple stories in the Italian media about a potential takeover.
The Pozzo family currently own both Watford and Udinese, having previously also had Spanish club Granada in their group.
Udinese started the current season very well but have somewhat faded and now find themselves eighth in Serie A. Watford are eighth in the Championship, and the Pozzo family will hope there’s still everything to play for with both clubs this season.
However, if they wanted to reduce their interest in football it looks like there’s someone ready to give them that opportunity. Corriere dello Sport and Messaggero Veneto report Russian businessman Sergey Lomakin, who lives in Cyprus and Forbes state is worth $1.7bn, wants Udinese.
According to Corriere dello Sport’s report he’s already started negotiations for the club.
Messaggero Veneto, Udinese’s local newspaper, moved to try and kill the story, by stating the Pozzo family have absolutely no interest in selling and that should therefore be that.
