Fabinho gets part of L’Equipe’s front page on Tuesday, as the French newspaper use Liverpool travelling to face PSG as a reason to run a transfer rumour.
It’s presented as something rather more serious than it feels after reading the entire story.
L’Equipe say PSG want to ‘relaunch’ for Fabinho. The Ligue 1 club plan to reposition themselves on the trail of the Brazilian midfielder.
The Champions League match on Wednesday evening ‘may be an opportunity’ for the potential transfer to be pushed forward.
To make it happen, Lass Diarra would have to leave, with an MLS stint given as a possibility.
Then Liverpool would have to agree, and the report states the Reds could allow Fabinho to leave on loan in January as long as there was a €50m mandatory purchase option for the summer window.
As far as L’Equipe are concerned, the Premier League club would be happy to get back the money they invested. And Fabinho could then return to Ligue 1, where he had more success than he’s enjoying currently.
Again, it very much feels like something built on the history of PSG links to the player, and his difficult start to Anfield life.
