Leeds United’s potential move for Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic could open the door for them to revive their interest in Leicester City’s Dennis Praet.
That’s according to Torino Granata, who cover the player’s today and the potential moves in the January transfer window.
Leeds were linked with Lukic in the summer and seemingly ready to make a bid at one point as Jesse Marsch reshaped his squad.
That never happened and he remained at Torino but has continued to be linked with a move away, particularly after he admitted has ambitions and will be considering his future.
They explain that the idea of Lukic moving in January is ‘less and less remote’ and ‘giving him away’ would allow Torino to make more money than they could in the summer, when he’d be in the final year of his deal.
At the same time, it would give them money to attract other targets and they are ‘trying to bring Praet back’ after his loan spell last season.
They tried to redeem him in the summer but couldn’t get a deal over the line with Leicester as they refused to lower the €15m clause in the deal.
Praet’s situation has not improved with the Foxes since that point, with him unable to find any sort of role and managing just 263 minutes of action so far.
He and Leicester would like to part ways and his fee ‘could have been reduced’ around €10-12m but that is a figure the Granata club would still consider too much.
Praet is, though, the option being looked at should Lukic depart, with the latter’s potential move to Leeds or elsewhere opening up possibilities for Torino to get Praet back and potentially add elsewhere too.
