L’Equipe report that Bruno Genesio has a Nabil Fekir shaped problem at Lyon right now.
The France international, who almost moved to Liverpool during the summer transfer window, insists he’s fit and there’s no issues, but his performances tell a different story.
Only managing a half in the 1-0 victory over Saint Etiennne, Fekir insisted afterwards that there was nothing to worry about and it was all about precaution.
L’Equipe explain that if it was any other player, Genesio would find it much easier to leave them out, but Fekir has a special affinity with the club’s supporters and a strong character.
The French newspaper say that if he isn’t included against Manchester City in the Champions League this week that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas simply won’t be able to stop himself from commenting on the situation.
And this all piles on to the Genesio pressure.
L’Equipe suggest Fekir could, or should, be dropped due to the level he’s displaying with his current fitness, but that such a decision would be controversial… even if it’s the right thing to do.
Manchester City will hope for as much uncertainty and potential strife as possible around Lyon this week.
