Loaned by Tottenham to Sampdoria in Serie A with an option to buy, Harry Winks decided to head to Italy to find the game time Antonio Conte wasn’t going to give him.

Having never played for anyone else other than Spurs, this was a big step for the 26-year-old, who has 10 England caps to his name to date.

However, the problem is he arrived injured, and he has yet to play for Sampdoria, which is frustrating not just for himself, but for Tottenham and the Serie A side.

The Italian club’s website reported on Tuesday that Winks ‘did not take part’ in Tuesday’s training session, with a double one scheduled for today.

Club Doria 46 then add a bit more detail, stating the Tottenham loanee ‘continues to train separately’, clearly not fit enough to take part in team activities just yet.

Their next game is against AS Roma in the league, and while he may make an appearance, they add ‘there doesn’t seem to be any progress’, currently putting him ‘in doubt’ of playing.

That’s when they add that despite him arriving from Tottenham as the club’s ‘big market hit’, he could quickly go from ‘possible crack to a disappointment’ if he doesn’t start playing soon.
