With Leicester City languishing in mid-table and knocked out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest, Brendan Rodgers is at the centre of a few sacking rumours.
The Foxes will likely give him until the end of the season to see if he can redress the situation at King Power Stadium, but the whispers have now reached Italy, where a couple candidates are in waiting.
This is according to Calciomercato.it, who, picking up on the Leicester City sacking rumours, explain that Gennaro Gattuso could be one of the candidates to replace Rodgers, with a ‘possible call’ heading his way.
One card that helps the Italian is the fact that Jorge Mendes is his agent, described as someone who can ‘boast a great influence in top-level English football’, as we have seen time and time again over the years at various different clubs.
This isn’t saying that Leicester would immediately turn to Gattuso should they get rid of Rodgers, but with the manager clearly trying to get into Premier League football, perhaps this could be the ideal opportunity for him.
The other name mentioned, albeit in passing, is that of Andrea Pirlo, who has been without a job since he was sacked from Juventus at the end of last season.
