Aksam claim Galatasaray are making ‘positive progress’ to sign Chelsea defender Gary Cahill before next week’s Super Lig transfer deadline.

Cahill is unlikely to be a regular starter under Maurizio Sarri and Aksam say Galatasaray are hoping to use his situation to their advantage.

It’s reported that both sides are very close to agreeing terms and Aksam say there’s only a couple of minor issues left for Chelsea and Galatasaray to sort out.

Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim is reportedly keen on working with Cahill and the Istanbul club are hoping they can sign the Chelsea player for a transfer fee between €3-4m.

Previously we covered reports from Turkey that Galatasaray want to sign the 32 year old on a free transfer, but Aksam’s latest update seems to be more realistic.

Cahill has 10 months left on his current Chelsea contract and will be free talk to clubs from overseas in the new year.

Despite all the claims, a move to Turkey would still be a surprise for Cahill. Many English players have been linked with transfers to the country and there’s not a track record of the moves actually happening in the end.
