On Tuesday, La Gazette du Fennec stated Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Aït-Nouri was injured when he arrived at the Algeria camp. It was also stated the left-back wouldn’t be available ‘anytime soon’.
The Fennec Foxes will face Equatorial Guinea and Liberia in AFCON qualifiers this month.
Compétition.dz brings the latest on the defender’s fitness and there’s a positive update for Wolves.
On Thursday, Algeria face Equatorial Guinea and the report claims Aït-Nouri is ‘99% out’ of this clash.
The report states the 23-year-old picked up a calf injury in Wolves’ 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
On Monday, he exercised in the gym [mainly cycling], under the supervision of Algeria’s medical staff. Aït-Nouri trained on the sidelines yesterday and the clash against Equatorial Guinea comes too soon for him.
The report states the Wolves player will continue working on his recovery and is making good progress. Algeria manager Vladimir Petković doesn’t want to risk him for tomorrow’s clash.
Compétition.dz add the fullback should be in contention against Liberia next Tuesday.
Wolves will hope he’s not risked unless fully fit, especially with it being a calf issue.
