On Monday, we covered a story from A Bola which said that four players from Portugal should be arriving at Wolverhampton this week.
Now the same paper says that two of these are joining the club. The defensive midfielder Pelé and the winger Hélder Costa are set to be signing for the English side.
Both of the players are being transferred directly from Benfica, as they’re not part of the Portuguese club’s plans. Pelé spent the last season on loan at Paços Ferreira, and Costa was playing for Monaco.
All these deals would be happening with the help of the agent Jorge Mendes, who’s a partner of the Fosun group. Other players such as Ola John and Anderson Talisca have been recently linked to the Wolves as well.
On Monday, the new club owner Jeff Shi said in a press conference: “When we chose to buy Wolves, Jorge gave us a lot of advice as to why Wolves were the best club to invest in. Now we have taken over, I think he will be one of our agents. He has a lot of resources in the world.
“I am also familiar with people who work with Benfica. I know the chairman so maybe we will try to get some players.”
A Bola don’t know any details about how much the transfers will cost the English club, they are only sure that Mendes is gathering a group of players to please his Chinese associates.
