Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias have a Wednesday article on potential Benfica transfers on the way, and Wolves get a mention.

Having gone through several players who could be set to leave the Lisbon side, the newspaper then land on Joao Carvalho.

Wolves have been linked with the Benfica player on and off for over a month, and the strength of the claims has been questionable. It started off with Benfica said to be looking for interest from England in the player, and then Wolves were a natural candidate.

Given all of that, it’s not been so convincing, but Diario de Noticias make a point of saying this specific claim of Wolves interest is their own, showing a certain level of taking responsibility for the story.

It’s stated Wolves have made a proposal to sign the 20 year old attacking midfielder, although there’s no further explanation of what that would be.

The likeliest scenario, if the claims are true, is that Wolves have put forward a loan offer with some kind of further look to a permanent transfer.

A Benfica exit is presented as a possibility.
