It seems that Ola John’s time at Wolverhampton Wanderers has really come to an end. After only six months at the club, the player is joining Deportivo La Coruña in Spain.
The transfer is reported by A Bola today, and confirmed by many Spanish outlets. Benfica are cutting the 24-year-old’s spell short and sending him to the La Liga side on another loan.
Ola John arrived at Wolves in August, as part of a pack brought by Jorge Mendes to the club. But he never really settled in, making only three appearances and playing 71 minutes.
This will be the player’s fourth loan since 2014, as he’s also been at Hamburg and Reading. He was signed from Twente in 2012 for €9m.
like many other Benfica’s youth talents, the winger has a big release clause: €45m. That’s something we reckon that won’t be activated before the end of his contract with the club, which expires in 2018.
All in all, an unsuccessful transfer to Wolves for everyone involved.
