On Wednesday, the Portuguese press wrote that Nottingham Forest were ‘very close’ to signing David Tavares from Benfica.

Record didn’t have many details on the move, and didn’t even say if it would be a loan or permanent deal. Still, they sounded very confident that the transfer is happening.

It’s time for A Bola to bring their take on the situation today, and their sources don’t seem to know anything about an attempt from the Championship side.

They say David Tavares is indeed one of the players who should be leaving Benfica this summer on a loan deal, but despite showing he’s been linked to Nottingham Forest, A Bola says that ‘sources from Luz’ haven’t confirmed the move for now.

Since Tavares is unlikely to stay at Benfica and the Eagles have a good relationship with Forest, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this move happening, even if the claims have got ahead of themselves.

David Tavares has a contract with Benfica until 2024, and is protected by a release clause of €66m.
