It was past midnight when Portuguese outlet A Bola reported an interesting story on their website.

They say Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Rui Silva, who’s currently an assistant manager at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It’s claimed the coach is ‘much wanted’ in England, and the Owls currently have him as their top priority for the manager position.

Silva has been an assistant for Nuno Espírito Santo since they arrived at Panathinaikos in 2010. They’ve stayed together at Rio Ave, Valencia, Porto and now Wolves.

It would be assumed this information will have come from a source close to the coach, rather than either of the two clubs involved.

There’s no claim on what the next step will be, or whether Rui Silva wants to be released and allowed to take the Sheffield Wednesday role. Wolves would obviously have a say in his future and it’s not the best time to lose a coach, so Nuno himself could take a stance.
