As covered by us yesterday, Everton’s chase for the Porto manager Sérgio Conceição has been reported in Portugal, with newspaper Diário de Notícias explaining the Toffees’ intentions.
We later published an update, this time coming from Record, saying the boss has a release clause, and that could be the solution to take him from the club.
Now today, Record brings another story, confirming that money is going to decide what will happen to the manager in the summer.
As yesterday Record hadn’t mentioned Everton, this time they do, covering the story which was published by The Times.
Record tries to make it clear that Conceição’s wish is to stay at Porto for next season, and continue with the great work he’s been doing at the club.
The Dragons’ intention would be the same, with president Pinto da Costa trusting the manager and showing availability to meet his demands in the transfer market.
Still, money talks, especially in Portugal. Record claims that ‘the millions of the market could dictate the laws’.
They don’t make it clear if this offer would be needed to convince Porto or Sérgio, although we’re pretty sure that an average salary at Everton would increase what he makes in Portugal.
His release clause at Porto continues to be undisclosed.
