Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias brings a story today claiming Championship side Reading have ‘targeted’ Vitória Guimarães midfielder André André.

They start saying that even though the player has been injured, he’s still wanted on the transfer market. That’s because claims from England say the Royals are interested in him.

The outlet explain that even though the player has a contract until 2021, the relationship between the clubs could help towards a deal.

The reason for that is the transfer of Paolo Hurtado, who was loaned by Reading to Vitória a couple of times and ended moving on a permanent transfer in the summer of 2017.

It’s a good story, but we’re sorry to tell Reading fans that it comes from nothing.

We went after these so-called links made by the English press, and all we found was a story written by Get Reading, which suggested the transfer to manager José Gomes.

The article was based on Reading’s scouting job at a match between Rio Ave and Porto, and even though André André doesn’t play for either of these clubs, he was touted because of his past with the Dragons.

So unless the Royals read the suggestion from the fan website and went along with it, it’s safe to say there’s nothing going on for André André.
