Nuno Espirito Santo has picked up the telephone to convince a shellshocked Willy Boly on a move to Wolves.

Boly seems to be a byproduct of talks aimed at taking Ruben Neves to Wolves. First reported on Sunday in the Portuguese newspapers, Boly himself may have thought it was just a rumour.

When the player’s agent was quizzed on Monday morning he denied any knowledge of a deal and insisted Boly would continue with his obligations towards FC Porto. Things then dramatically changed when Boly turned up for his first day of Porto preseason and was told he wasn’t required to train.

Driven away looking glum, understandably, Boly’s shock and initial reluctance may have more to do with the whirlwind nature of developments, rather than any particular aversion to Wolves.

To try and smooth things over, A Bola report, Nuno Espirito Santo has telephoned Boly to explain he really wants him at Wolves. Nuno hopes the personal touch will make Boly feel a lot better about a move to the Championship club.

A Bola say Nuno feels Boly will be very important for his Wolves side, offering strength and stability in defence.
