It seems there’s now a pretty good reason why Everton’s interest in the Sporting midfielder William Carvalho has been mentioned so many times in the Portuguese media recently.
Newspaper A Bola comes up with a very interesting story today saying that just after being announced as the Toffees’ new manager, Marco Silva approved the signing.
The manager has already worked with William Carvalho during his time at Sporting, and has now give green light for the club to go after the target.
A Bola claims that the midfielder’s agent Pere Guardiola has been in constant contact with Everton director Marcel Brands, and the negotiations should advanceme in the next few days.
Everton’s wish would be to get things done as soon as possible, especially because of the World Cup, as the player could see his price increase after the tournament.
A Bola adds that Marco Silva’s had his first meeting to discuss signings with Brands on Tuesday, and the director already has some other names on his list. Among them, there are two other Sporting players: Gelson Martins and Bas Dost.
Interestingly, the newspaper makes it clear that in case Everton try to sign these players, they’re doing it all clean, speaking to Sporting before making any personal approaches.
Maybe what they mean is that the Toffees don’t expect to get any of them for free after the attacks at Alcochete, which is still leading some of the players to try and terminate their contracts with the Lisbon side.
