Portuguese side Sporting have reportedly made an offer for Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira.
According to newspaper A Bola today, the Lions have proposed a loan spell until the end of the season, with a buying option included.
The Lisbon side are currently looking for a replacement for Rui Patrício, who rescinded his contract and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers.
But problem is that Manchester United are not keen on letting Pereira go for good, and have initially rejected Sporting’s offer.
Even though the Red Devils are open to the loan deal, they don’t want to give Sporting the buying option, as they believe the goalkeeper still has a future at the club.
Manchester United manager José Mourinho has already confirmed that Pereira should be leaving on loan this summer, as the 22-year-old “needs to play”.
With Sporting being a title-contender club in his home country, maybe that would be a good option for Pereira. We just wonder if a club of their size would accept having a one-year rental goalkeeper.
