It’s quite rare to see the Portuguese press getting some info from sources close to José Mourinho, as even interviews with the Manchester United boss are not seen very often in his home country papers.

They do sometimes get information from contacts in Setubal, and that was the case when Mourinho was moving to Manchester United, and perhaps again now.

Diário de Notícias have access to some information today, which is about the manager’s renewal with the Premier League club. After news from England breaking out on Wednesday, it’s time for the media in Portugal to confirm the new contract.

The newspaper claims the new deal is already agreed, with the manager accepting an extension which will run until 2021. As there are still a few details left, the announcement should be made in the next few days.

Diário de Notícias claims that Mourinho’s wages of £250k per week won’t have a big rise, since he’s already the Premier League’s best paid manager, alongside Pep Guardiola.

Something interesting pointed out by the newspaper is that in case Mourinho fulfils his contract, then Manchester United will be the club he’s had the biggest single spell at, since his record is still his three and a half years at Chelsea.
