Former Benfica coach Bruno Lage is on Wolverhampton Wanderer’s list of options to replace Nuno Espirito Santo if he leaves to join Tottenham.
That’s according to Jornal de Noticias, who say Lage would welcome a return to England after spells with Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday.
Wolves boss Espirito Santo is reportedly on the list of targets for Tottenham should Mourinho leave this summer, with the Special One under increasing pressure to turn things around at the club after a disappointing season.
It’s believed that he may not last beyond the summer and, should he depart, Tottenham have a list of options to replace him.
One of those is Espirito Santo, who has impressed with Wolves over the last four years.
Jornal de Noticias say Lage ‘leads the list of possible successors’ to Espirito Santo, courtesy of him being represented by Jorge Mendes.
He is ‘very well connected’ at Wolves, and Lage has the profile of the type of coach they want, one who can ‘develop the young talents’ that currently make up their squad.
There would be no need to convince the 44-year-old either, with him ‘looking forward’ to returning to English football after working at Sheffield Wednesday and as Carlos Carvalhal’s assistant at Swansea.
