Paulo Fonseca to Tottenham Hotspur is being reported on across the Italian, Portuguese and English media.
In Italy it’s caused some surprise with there being a feeling, especially in the media around AS Roma, that Spurs are taking a huge drop from Jose Mourinho to his compatriot.
Portugal’s O Jogo now say there’s total agreement for the manager to take over. After claims of a three year deal, Fonseca is expected to sign for just two seasons, with a third campaign being optional.
O Jogo don’t make it clear, but it’s likely the power to extend the option will rest with Tottenham, or be linked to objectives being met on the pitch.
Fonseca still hasn’t arrived in England, and O Jogo state he’ll fly to England in the next few days, and then everything can be confirmed and an announcement made.
The 48-year-old was at Roma from 2019 until the end of last season, and before that he was at Shakhtar Donetsk, where he won the double for three consecutive years.
