The front pages of Portuguese newspapers A Bola, Record and O Jogo all report the same thing today: Alex Telles may not play against Liverpool.
The Porto left-back got injured in the match against Braga on Saturday, and now tries to recover in time to travel to Anfield next week.
Telles was injured in a really unexpected way. He took a penalty to score an equaliser in the second half of the match, and immediately fell to the ground.
As reported by O Jogo, his pain has been diagnosed as bursitis in his right hip, and the treatment has started immediately.
The newspaper says that in the worst scenario, Alex Telles could be sidelined for up to four weeks, and that would obviously mean missing the two games against Liverpool.
Although his absence may sound like just a change of left-backs, the injury is actually a big deal for Porto. Telles has been playing at the top level for a couple of seasons now, and is a crucial player for the team’s attacking system. He has five goals and ten assists this season, and got to 20 assists the year before.
So that’s a big blow for the Dragons and a boost for Jurgen Klopp.
