Manchester City will be making an attempt to sign William Carvalho from Sporting CP at the end of the season, Record reports.

After months monitoring the player, City have intensified their scouting lately and are would now be convinced they want him in the team.

Although other clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are all said to be interested, Record says City are focused on winning the competition, and money should not be a problem.

It sounds like a reasonable story, but the main argument why Manchester City are the favourites in the race isn’t so convincing. It would be because Pere Guardiola, Pep’s brother, is the player’s new agent.

When the partnership was announced, we said it wouldn’t take long until these rumours started gathering pace. And that’s exactly what’s happening now, with Record saying Pere would help his brother with the transfer.

CapturarBut someone who certainly won’t make it easy is the Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho, who has reportedly already told the agent the price of his move.

Record says that only the €45m release clause or something close to it will take William Carvalho from the club.
