Reports from the Portuguese and English press this week have been talking about Chelsea’s will to sign Alex Telles from Porto.
It’s been claimed that Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso could both leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, so the Blues would work to sign the Dragons’ star to replace them.
Portuguese newspaper Record covers these claims today, and it turns out they are quite optimistic about the possibility of a transfer.
Their report points out that Alex Telles is protected by a release clause of €40m, and that’s usually a way of saying that the Portuguese club would only let him go for that amount.
However, Record actually points out that Alex Telles ‘shouldn’t’ sign a new contract with Porto, with his current deal expiring in 2021. And just like it’s been said in the past few days, it’s once again claimed that Porto will need to sell stars in the summer.
So if Chelsea are really interested in getting Telles, this sounds like a good time. The Brazilian is having another impressive season with the Dragons, with ten goals and nine assists so far.
