This weekend, the English media reported that Manchester United are about to step up their chase of Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes, and would be ready to pay the player’s €100m release clause if needed.
Now although the Portuguese media normally encourages this type of story, especially as the Red Devils have been constantly linked to the player, newspaper Correio da Manhã has today decided to cool things down.
The outlet has an article saying Manchester United’s intentions are still completely unknown by Sporting.
It’s claimed that the Lions know nothing about the Red Devils’ interest, and a bid for the midfielder is still to arrive at Alvalade.
Correio da Manhã adds that only a really big offer would convince Sporting to sell Fernandes.
They are in no hurry to let their captain go, and if such bid is never made, they would be fine keeping him in their squad for one more season.
