Portugal’s deadline day on Tuesday ended up being quite exciting, with Porto being linked to and even signing some unexpected targets.
One of these players was Marko Grujic. The Liverpool midfielder had barely been mentioned by the local press, and ended up being announced by the Dragons on a late move from the Reds.
Newspaper Record have some details from the move today, and say Porto will spend €500k to have the 24-year-old on loan for one season.
The clubs didn’t make it clear if the Dragons would have the option for a permanent move or not, and Record affirms they won’t.
It’s said Liverpool’s intention was to keep Grujic in the squad, but the plans were changed once they signed Thiago Alcântara from Bayern Munich.
Still, the Reds want to keep him ‘close’, and that’s why they rejected offers from Milan and Hertha Berlin.
Liverpool signed Grujic on a €7m deal from Red Star back in 2017, but due to the many loans he’s been involved in, he only has 16 appearances for the Reds.
