As the entire Portuguese press continues to confirm Erdal Rakip’s move from Benfica to Crystal Palace on a loan deal, more details about the negotiations keep coming up.
Earlier today, we already covered the reports saying the player is already in London to sign on a loan until the end of the season, and the Selhurst Park side won’t have a buying option.
Now Portuguese newspaper A Bola brings a few more interesting things about the move and the money Crystal Palace will spend on the loan.
The outlet claims Benfica did not demand a loan fee, although it’s the Premier League side who will pay the player’s full wages in that period.
Just like the other papers have said, there was the possibility that Benfica would loan him to another Portuguese club, but A Bola claims that it was Rakip himself who chose to move to a better league, and that’s when the Crystal Palace option showed up.
The Swedish player signed for Benfica earlier this month, after his contract with Malmo expired.
So, that’s no loan fee and just wages for Crystal Palace to pay, which makes this a very cheap deal given Benfica don’t hand out huge contracts to squad players.
