The signing of Félix Correia should be announced by Manchester City today, according to reports from the Portuguese press.

Local newspapers say the player has met the club’s facilities and signed a five-year contract on Tuesday, and now only waits for the move to become official.

What caught our attention when reading the Portuguese papers today was the reported amount paid by the Premier League side.

As written in the past few days, outlet O Jogo confirms that the 18-year-old is moving on a €7m deal. However, newspaper Record, who often have good sources at Sporting, now claim the Lions are being paid only €3.5m.

Perhaps 50% of his shares belongs to someone else, but it’s a little weird to see Record reporting it without an explanation of why Sporting are making so little from the transfer.

Correia had one more year of contract with Sporting, but since he didn’t want to renew his deal, the Lions felt it was best to sell him now rather than lose him for free next year.
