In the past few days, we’ve been covering claims from the Portuguese press which say Wolves wouldn’t have a problem paying a fee for Rui Patrício.

Even though the Premier League side have signed the player as a free agent, they would still be willing to compensate his former club Sporting just to avoid a future legal battle.

The Portuguese club recently released a statement claiming that they would fight to get transfer fees for the players who rescinded their contracts. The Mirror covered it, giving emphasis to Rui Patrício’s case, saying Wolves could still have to spend some money on the signing.

Now Diário de Notícias covers The Mirror’s story, and exaggerates a little bit. They take the news as if Sporting had asked Wolves for a fee, as a direct request, and not an open letter like it actually happened.

As Diário de Notícias knows that Wolves are willing to pay Sporting a fee voluntarily, they claim that this attempt from the Portuguese club ‘doesn’t seem to have gone well with the club owner’.

It’s hard to tell if the newspaper knows Fosun’s reaction for a fact, or if they’re just guessing what the group would think of such a request.

What seems to be happening is that Wolves don’t want a fight, and will work to get the transfer done in a friendly way.

As friendly as is possible with Bruno de Carvalho, which means anything but all out club warfare.
