On Monday, we had a story explaining how the Portuguese media was seeing Benfica’s upcoming Europa League clash with Rangers.

The Lisbon press was clearly impressed with the form Steven Gerrard’s side have shown this season, claiming the Eagles would have a pretty hard job in their trip to Glasgow this week.

Now as they bring updates on Benfica’s squad today, they show that the Portuguese giants won’t have all their stars available for the match.

Newspaper Record features a story saying manager Jorge Jesus will need youngsters from the B squad in case he wants to take 23 players to the game.

They say Benfica will be missing eight players from the first team, and that’s why the coach has been calling up youngsters to fill the squad in training this week.

The injured players are André Almeida, Nuno Tavares, Todibo and Pedrinho. Nicolas Otamendi is suspended, while Julian Weigl and Darwin Nunez are infected with Covid-19, and Andreas Samaris isn’t registered in the Europa League.

Record highlights the fact that Jorge Jesus made some criticism towards the youngsters who featured in the weekend game against Paredes, so Benfica won’t be facing Rangers in the best conditions on Thursday night.
