Jordan Veretout has found himself at the centre of a controversy in Italy after approaching a ball-boy.

The 24 year old left Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, after it looking possible he could stay with Steve Bruce’s side. Given the midfielder’s comments whilst on loan in France during the last campaign, returning to Aston Villa and actually playing had seemed unlikely, and certainly not what the player wanted.

However, the absence of an early window sale made a Villa Park stay possible. Saint Etienne then swooped in and believed they’d got a deal done, only for Aston Villa to agree a better deal with Fiorentina, and Veretout choose Italy over the French option.

Whilst his first season in Florence is going reasonable well, Veretout was unhappy after Fiorentina’s 2-1 away loss to Crotone, and approached a ball-boy. The former Aston Villa player was caught on video pointing at the youngster, who then held his hands up.

It was a brief encounter but Calciomercato and others in Italy report the police have become involved, and some kind of report been made.
