German international Leroy Sane has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City in the last few months.

Over the last few days, German media have been reporting an incoming bid from Manchester City. There were claims the Premier League side are ready to offer as much as €50m.

According to latest information from German newspaper Bild, Manchester City officials have opened negotiations with Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel and Leroy Sane’s agent Jürgen Milewski.

It is reported the Bundesliga side are holding out for €50m, and City’s current offer is too low.

Bild say negotiations are expected to continue, and the financial terms of the deal shouldn’t be a problem if Pep Guardiola really wants to sign the player.

They call it ‘Poker with Pep’.

Earlier, reports suggested there is a clause in Sane’s contract which would allow clubs to sign him for €37m from next summer. If that’s the case, Schalke might want to offload the player sooner.

Manchester City, however, could also wait for next summer, but risk losing the player to another club.
