Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca, and given that Real Madrid are quite happy right now with Zinedine Zidane, there were no hints about Pochettino taking over at Marca’s favourite club.

Having played in Spain for Espanyol, as well as managing the Barcelona club, Pochettino has a reputation in the country, and the media are often interested in what he’s getting up to at Tottenham.

Asked about the failed Champions League campaign, Pochettino explained his Tottenham side were getting used to the competition, and it’s brought them experience, but things are bright domestically with an unbeaten PL season so far: “That is most important. We have 12 games in the Premier League without losing and that says we are a competitive team.”

There are other teams like City, Arsenal, Chelsea, United or Liverpool who have the advantage. This is another project, another story. What we must do is make smart decisions to be competitive and fight with clubs like the aforementioned.”

Pochettino went on to say it’s exciting to have that challenge of making better decisions than other clubs, and therefore competing with a much lower budget. The Tottenham manager’s aims are still the same, and he told Marca that coming so close to glory last season has provided an extra motivation for the current campaign.
