On August 30th it was reported in France that Lucas Moura had been offered to Mauricio Pochettino, but the Tottenham boss had knocked the potential transfer back, asking for Angel Di Maria instead.

Since then Lucas has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League, but there hasn’t seemed anything especially concrete on Spurs.

L’Equipe have changed that on Thursday.

The French newspaper claim Tottenham have launched a move to sign Lucas, and initiated contact to try and get the Brazilian to London.

Lucas ‘arouses the interest’ of Spurs, say L’Equipe, and the player is said to be one of the men on Mauricio Pochettino’s list, as the manager looks for a reinforcement in attack.

Tottenham have ‘taken steps’ in ‘recent hours’ to try and progress a possible deal, and there’s thought to be good contacts between the clubs from Serge Aurier’s move, ‘but with Daniel Levy, negotiations are never easy’.

Tottenham would prefer a loan, PSG would prefer a permanent transfer, there’s a possibility of meeting in the middle with some kind of loan plus purchase obligation.

A week or so ago Le Parisien reported Lucas’ asking price is €40m, then L’Equipe said it’s around half that, it seems PSG will just try and see what they can get.

Usually, we talk down rumours and say the claims aren’t quite so big, but not in this case: L’Equipe have clearly stated Tottenham are trying to sign Lucas Moura.

There’s no angle from either Le Parisien or RMC on this yet.
