Yerry Mina’s uncle and agent has denied that the player has reached an agreement to join Premier League side Everton.
In an interview with Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo this Wednesday, Jair Mina has claimed that they’re still waiting for Barcelona to make a decision over the defender’s future.
“It’s not true that Yerry has signed for Everton,” Jair Mina told Mundo Deportivo. “There are many teams that are interested in Yerry, but first we want to know what are the plans with him. When we know, we will decide.”
Once again, Jair Mina has claimed that the player’s reason to leave Barcelona is to have more playing time, and that will be crucial for him in choosing a new club.
“The player has a priority to play, so if he can’t do it at Barça, he will do it at another team, but first we want to know the club’s plans with him.”
Barcelona signed Mina from Brazilian side Palmeiras in January on a €12m deal. The player has failed to impress manager Ernesto Valverde in his short period, and only made six appearances for the club.
However, with a very good World Cup for Colombia, Mina has impressed the European sides again, being linked to both Everton and Liverpool.
Everton have been the more strongly linked of the two clubs, and with Barca expected to bring Clement Lenglet in this week, things could move quickly.
