Ivan Perišić left Inter Milan when his contract expired at the end of last season and joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in the summer.
The move helped the Croatia international reunite with Antonio Conte, the manager he had played under between 2019 and 2021 at the San Siro.
Operating mainly as a left wing-back, the 33-year-old has impressed for Tottenham, registering four assists from nine matches in all competitions.
The Serie A side have struggled this season, suffering four defeats in their first nine games, with three of those losses coming in the league. Former Inter president Massimo Moratti is of the belief losing the 33-year-old to Spurs has been a blow for the Nerazzurri.
TuttoMercatoWeb interviewed Moratti and when quizzed whether Inter underestimated Perišić’s farewell, he said: “Well, certainly one thing we all pretend to forget is that Perišić was very strong. He gave us a great hand. Maybe yes, he was a little underestimated, it was a very important and heavy change.”
Moratti has now joined former Inter man, Antonio Cassano, in appearing to question the Italian club for letting Perišić leave for free.
