Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is keeping his word and ignoring other transfer options this summer to secure a move to Real Betis.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the player is working to make his dream move a reality following his loan spell last season.
They explain that Bellerin had to ‘beg Mikel Arteta’ to let him return to Spain last summer, and eventually got his wish, joining boyhood club Betis, with whom he is ‘falling head over heels in love’.
He wants to join Manuel Pellegrini’s side permanently and has communicated that to Arsenal, but at the moment the finances are prohibitive.
Mikel Arteta is planning to complete the recruitment process after that, and it will include finalising a departure for Bellerin.
The idea is to ‘take advantage’ of his good season on loan with Betis and obtain a figure of around €10m, something both Roma and Fiorentina were willing to pay.
However, Bellerin ignored both of these options as he wants the move to Betis. In fact, he has already offered to forgive the final year of his salary at the Emirates, which is around €5m, to compensate Arsenal for a termination of his deal.
That’s a solution that Betis hope will ‘come to fruition’ in the final stretch of August but preferably before that.
The Spanish side are willing to wait to get their man, and Bellerin is equally patient, something that ‘frustrates’ both Arsenal and his other suitors.
