Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the frontrunner to sign Gareth Bale, seven years after he left them for Real Madrid.
Jonathan Barnett, the forward’s agent has publicly discussed his client’s desire to join Spurs, more than once in the last 24 hours.
‘Bye Bale’ is written in bold on the front page of today’s AS.
It’s claimed Real Madrid, Tottenham and Barnett negotiated ‘some of the details’ of the deal to bring the winger back to the Premier League.
The newspaper relays claims made in England on Wednesday, which stated the north London club will sign the 31-year-old on a loan deal and take care of half of the Welshman’s annual net salary of €15m.
The player has two more years in his contract, and AS explains Zinedine Zidane’s side are working hard to get rid of him permanently this summer. Tottenham, at the moment, are not agreeing to this.
As per the report, the discussions between the two clubs are ongoing over the ‘percentage to pay’, which would most likely be about his salary, and the duration of the loan deal.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Bale’s return to Spurs is ‘advancing rapidly’. They also relay claims made during a Movistar Plus’ programme.
It’s claimed the Wales international has already undergone his medical checks at Valdebebas, ahead of his transfer to the north London club.
Mundo, however, states these claims were neither confirmed by Real Madrid nor Bale’s representatives.
