In need of strengthening their attack, Chelsea have identified Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a target.
Thomas Tuchel worked with the forward at Borussia Dortmund and wants to reunite with him at Stamford Bridge.
The La Liga side have a verbal agreement in place with Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso, but their immediate concern is to register Jules Koundé.
Aubameyang’s sale can help them in this regard.
Mundo Deportivo say the Catalan club want no less than €15m from the Blues for the Gabon international, without including Alonso. The former’s desire was to stay at the Camp Nou, but he understands Barca’s economic needs and accepts a move to London.
After an acceleration on Friday for Aubameyang to join Tuchel’s side, the negotiations stopped on Saturday. His sale to Chelsea will not be closed on Sunday and he’s now included in the squad to face Real Sociedad today.
Chelsea are willing to pay the former Arsenal man a good salary to take him away from Barca, but there is no agreement between the two teams as talks haven’t progressed as expected.
Therefore, the attacker’s sale to the west London club ‘slows down’.
Aubameyang ‘continues to accept the idea’ of arriving in the English capital. Barca took him on a free transfer and now ‘want to make a high profit’ from his sale. Tuchel wants to bring the player to Chelsea.
With all parties wanting the deal to take shape, new developments could be expected in the next few days.
