Atlético Mineiro youngster Savinho has long been in the sights of Manchester City.
The forward’s performances for the Belo Horizonte club have convinced the Citizens to make an approach for him in the upcoming window.
Eindhovens Dagblad state the 18-year-old is still with the Brazilian side, and ‘in principle’, his rights will be transferred to Manchester City in the summer.
Savinho, however, will not be representing Pep Guardiola’s side next season. Instead, the Premier League champions are likely to let him go out on a loan deal elsewhere.
PSV Eindhoven are looking to take the Brazil U20 international on a temporary deal. ED explain that ‘it is widely believed’ the attacker will join the Eredivisie side, ‘via a step to’ Manchester City.
The Dutch club have been in talks with the club [likely Guardiola’s side] for ‘some time’ to make the South American’s arrival on loan possible after this season. The report further adds ‘under what conditions this happens has always been the subject of discussion’.
PSV, for their part, want the deal to benefit them sporting and financial wise. In the event Savinho joins PSV, then he may have to play matches with their youth team, even though there is a ‘good chance’ he will train and enjoy minutes with their senior team
Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko spent time on loan at PSV, where he had minutes with their youth team. It could be a similar sort of a deal for the Brazilian.
ED state the English champions are ‘sensitive to this argument’, while they can also send Savinho to either Troyes or Lommel SK. Both clubs are owned by the City Football Group.
